Organization profile

The T.E. Murphy Engine Research Laboratory functions to serve the diesel engine, automotive, and alternative fuels industries. The Lab specializes in the physical and chemical characterization of exhaust emissions, evaluation of emission controls, evaluation and demonstration of alternative fuels, certification of on- and off-highway engines, and the evaluation of control technology in the field. The Lab also features two transient double-ended dynamometer test cells equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and control systems. This enables researchers to expand their footprint in alternative fuels, drive-cycle testing and fundamental combustion research.
