Personal profile

Research interests

My research is focused on bacterial host engineering for biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, biomaterials and protein scaffolds. I have a background of metabolic  engineering of bacterial species and fine tuning of the regulatory pathways for improving the titer of secondary metabolites. Furthermore, I am interested in post biosynthetic modification of natural products.

I completed my BSc and MSc at Kathmandu University (Nepal) and obtained my PhD from Institute of Biomolecules Reconstruction, Sun Moon University, South Korea. During PhD, my research projects were focused on genetic engineering of bacterial systems for production of therapeutic small molecules.

In July 2018, I joined University of South Florida as a Postdoctoral researcher and worked on a research project involving screening of MDR bacterial species on wastewater for development of efficient drug delivery systems for targeted nanormediation.

In February 2019, I joined the Schmidt-Dannert lab as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. My current research project involves engineering microbial platform strains for different biomanufacturing applications and development of efficient synthetic biology tools for strain engineering.
