Personal profile
I am an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and a faculty member in the Program in Health Disparities Research. I am board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and provide primary care for adults and kids at the Community University Health Care Center, a federally qualified health center in Minneapolis, MN. After finishing residency training, I completed the Primary Care Research Fellowship at UCSF. My research interests include socioeconomic and ethnicity-based health disparities, supporting patients in prevention and management of chronic diseases such as diabetes, treatment burden, health coaching and peer education, implementation science, and community-engaged research. I am currently studying how to optimize diabetes care for low-income patients who receive care in safety net primary care settings through an NIH NIDDK K23 award. I also provide mentorship and coaching to residents through the University of Minnesota's medicine-pediatrics residency program.
