60GHz substrate integrated waveguide resonance isolator

Abstract

A novel planar 60GHz isolator is presented in this paper. This H-plane resonance isolator is based on a barium (BaM) ferrite thin film loaded in a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The improved magnetic properties of BaM ferrite thin film makes it possible to build a planar isolator at 60GHz. Simulation results on 60GHz SIW isolator is given by ANSYS high frequency structural simulator (HFSS). The final device is built on an alumina substrate with platinum coating layers. Measurement results show that -7.5dB isolation is achieved in the operation band.
