Abstract
The authors describe a novel DC/DC forward zero voltage switching (ZVS) multiresonant converter (MRC) with the following features: (1) maximum switching frequency above 2 MHz; (2) converter efficiency of about 80% at full load; and (3) a control circuit using the UC3860IC, which is generally used for zero-current switching, but which is used here for ZVS. A 48-V(DC) input, 5-V(DC) output, 50-W power module suitable for telecommunications applications was developed.
