Abstract
A boundary integral method is presented for the study of wave propagations in waveguiding structures that are considered difficult for the beam propagation method (BPM). We have demonstrated with 2-D simulations, that structures of large angle bends and arbitrary reflections can be easily modeled without excessive computational demand. This method provides a powerful tool for analyzing radiation loss, scattering, crosstalk and other characteristics in complex integrated photonic devices.
