Abstract
A simple approach to surface mine sedimentology is presented in which the watershed is subdivided into homogeneous subwatersheds and flow and sediment routed to a reservoir. Flow calculations are made using SCS procedures and sediment yields using Williams' routing procedures. Size distribution of the sediment entering the reservoir is calculated using procedures which assume that the large particles are trapped first. Reservoir sedimentology is predicted in the model by using the DEPOSITS routines which predict outflow concentrations and size distributions from continuity principles and plug flow concept.
