Abstract

The bis(μ‐phenolato)diiron(II) complex 1 is a model compound for nonheme iron enzymes that use α‐keto acids as cofactors. Complex 1 undergoes immediate oxidative decarboxylation upon exposure to dioxygen at a rate which is three to four orders of magnitude faster than those observed for other compounds of this type. The formula of the ligand is given under that of 1. (Figure Presented.)
