N2 - A new Piggyback soft lens for visual correction of irregular astigmatism has been presented. The soft lens is a lathe cut, Helifcon-A® plastic which contains a center cut-out portion on the anterior surface in which the hard lens rides. The soft lens can be manufactured in a broad range of parameters, thus maximizing comfort, visual acuity, and corneal acceptance of the system. A trial lens set, fitting technique, and case reports are presented. It has been the authors' preliminary impression that the Flexlens® Piggyback system is helpful in correcting irregular astigmatism in patients unsuccessful with conventional lens designs.
