Abstract

Data are given for water content, total ash, pH, total exchangeable bases and exchangeable hydrogen in surface peats from English raised bogs and Irish blanket bogs. It is considered that a greater supply of sea spray to the Irish bogs is probably responsible for the observed differences in pH, base saturation and vegetation.
