Abstract

A two-step algorithm for computing the coefficients of the quadratic kernel leading to reduction of tissue component and increase the specificity while optimizing the sensitivity to the ultrasound contrast agents (UCA) was described. Quadratic kernels from individual singular modes of the data matrix were compared in terms of their ability of maximize the contrast to tissue ratio (CTR). Quadratic kernels resulting in the highest CTR values were convolved. The results were analyzed in the frequency domain by examining the frequency response of the quadratic kernels individually and in the cascade.
