Abstract

With the global awareness on sustainable utilization of limited natural resources, manure researchers are facing both challenges and opportunities to promote more effective utilization of animal manure as a beneficial resource with fewer environmental burdens. This book is a scientifically sound and up-to-date manure reference. It provides a comprehensive coverage of major manure-producing species (beef, dairy, swine, poultry, goats/sheep, horse, and deer) and manure management systems. This chapter, as the last chapter, highlights the activities and accomplishments synthesized in the previous 20 chapters in this volume, while also presenting and discussing several topics and emerging issues that are not covered in those chapters, but are worthy of mention and deserve attention from manure researchers in future exploration. The insights and visions conceived in the individual chapters, and as a whole, provides a valuable resource for manure researchers to stimulate new ideas and directions for applied and environmental manure research.
