Abstract

(Figure Presented) Radically different oxidation: An investigation of the electronic interplay between ligand radical(s) and a high-valent metal center in the three-member electrontransfer series shown in the picture reveals that, upon oxidation and removal of both ligand radicals, the chromium center becomes reduced from CrIV to CrIII with concomitant formation of an imidyl radical (NRC)-.
