Abstract
In this paper an object-oriented system for programming robots is proposed. The advantages of an object-oriented approach are described and in particular the paper examines how concurrent execution and resource sharing can be programmed in Smalltalk. It is shown that this is specially useful to program tasks requiring multiple cooperating robots.

Funding Information:An object-oriented programming approach to robot tasks has been proposed. Smalltalk has been suggested as a system for programming complex robot applications including applications with multiple robots. Partial support for this research has been provided by the project WOKSAPE of the University of Minnesota, USA and by the NSF grant DMC-8518735.
