Abstract

In the vector dyad approach to mechanism design, the desired motion of the mechanism is represented as discrete positions and orientations rather than as a general motion. When the free choice variables are treated as if they were orthogonal and the goodness of the solution is treated as a function of these variables, a powerful design aid can be provided by mapping the solution space on a density or contour map.
