Abstract
A number of schemes, based on control volume techniques, have been proposed. These schemes by-pass the drawbacks in numerical enthalpy methods and lead to accurate enthalpy solutions for one dimensional Stefan problems. Areas such as two-dimensional problems and treatment of mushy regions are discussed, in which further work is required.
