Abstract

Palpation of the arterial pulse is one of the oldest and probably still the most frequent form of medical examination. Its validity and informative value are indisputable. However, in the objectification of the results of palpation, one encounters certain technical difficulties regarding the measurement of the strength of the pulsation. Simultaneous palpation of the pulse at corresponding sites yields information not only concerning differences in strength of the pulsations but also concerning their chronological relationships.
