Abstract
We propose a new algorithm for the blind identification and equalization of finite impulse response (FIR) systems using the secondorder statistics of the received signal. The new algorithm is set in the same context as the algorithms of Tong et al. and Moulines et al.; however, it is specifically designed to allow correlated input signals. Computer simulations, in which the equalization performance of all three algorithms is tested, demonstrate that the new algorithm compares favorably to the existing methods. The new algorithm yields lower bit error rates in the case of uncorrelated inputs as well.
