Abstract

Efficient blue electrophosphorescence produced using exothermic energy transfer from a host of N,N-dicarbazolyl-3,5-benzene (mCP) to a phosphorescent iridium complex was studied. The temperature dependence of the radiative lifetime and the photoluminescence of a mCP film doped with the iridium complex was examined. By employing exothermic energy transfer, a maximum external electroluminescent quantum efficiency of (7.5±0.8)% was obtained.
