Abstract

The effects of population increase, industrial expansion and intensive agricultural activity on the coastal streams of Israel are outlined. The principal aspects considered are the hydrology of the stream systems, water quality and the effects of recent pressures on aquatic biota. The possibilities for conservation and rehabilitation are also examined. (D.W.T.)
