Abstract

This paper proposes a combined method of coordinate-interleaved space-time coding and rotated constellation, also known as signal-space diversity. The merits of space-time transmit diversity are supplemented with constellation rotation, which provides another way of providing diversity. Without any loss in the advantages of each source of diversity, the diversity order can be increased by up to twice the order of space-time coding or signal-space diversity. The combination of these two diversity schemes provides complementary effects to combat fast-varying and slowly-varying channel fading.
