Abstract
The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficiency of the antihypertensive treatment with ACE-inhibitor enalapril in patients with essential hypertension by means of 24-hours ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Eleven patients were examined after 2 weeks of placebo therapy and after 4 weeks of enalapril (Enalapril Lachema, 12.4 ± 4.1 mg, one day dosis) therapy. For the evaluation of the circadian variation of measured values a single cosinor and population cosinor analysis was used. Enalapril therapy significantly decreased MESOR in systolic (p = 0.03) and diastolic blood pressure (p = 0.02) but not the amplitude and acrophase.
