N2 - A series of dissolved oxygen enhancement systems were analyzed for their ability to economically maintain a minimum dissolved oxygen concentration of 6 mg/l below the El Vado hydroelectric facility. Systems considered included surface axial flow pumps, a selective withdrawal tower, aerating weirs, and forebay/tailrace bubble diffusers as well as various combinations of these systems. The most cost-effective design was found to be an air injection system consisting of a high volume-low pressure blower connected to an existing draft tube venting line, supplemented with the addition pure oxygen as needed.
