Abstract
The use of standard cells played a critical role in design closure and the ability to build high-speed circuits. A roundtable of experts assembled to assess the performance gap with respect to custom design using the cells in application specific integrated circuits. The views of experts on library composition, library characterization and technical and cultural issues related with this problem were also discussed.
