Abstract
A family of real-time preprocessors for general arrays is presented to improve the performance of direction finding and beamforming techniques in the presence of multipath. The preprocessors are based on the time-domain realizations of the coherent signal-subspace transformation (CSST) matrices. The array structure includes a time-domain CSST preprocessor followed by a commonly used narrowband direction-finding and/or beamforming algorithm. The performances of direction-finding and beamforming algorithms with and without CSST preprocessing are compared.
