Abstract

A report is presented on the feasibility of building such a distributed computer traffic control system. The intent is not to develop a new traffic control optimization algorithm, but to select an existing algorithm, modified if necessary, that could be efficiently used on a distributed system. The feasibility of the selected algorithm is tested by implementing it in Fortran on an existing microprocessor. This indicates the amount of processor execution time and memory space required. Finally a proposal is made for the architecture of the distributed system.
