Abstract

In this paper, we present in a tutorial fashion some issues regarding efficient search and distributed realization of structured systems which emerge in distributed control problems. We present simple examples to show problems that emerge when we look for distributed realizations of structured transfer functions. These shortcomings are not explicitly addressed in many existing distributed control methodologies. We also review a large class of network systems for which efficient search of optimal networked controller is possible and at the same time a network distributed realization of the optimal controller can be constructed.
