Abstract

In 1987, the influence of moose on aboveground biomass, production, and annual litterfall of boreal vegetation was examined using four paired moose (Alces alces) exclosures and browsed plots in Isle Royale, Michigan. The major observation was, browsing by moose influences the long-term structure and dynamics of the boreal forest ecosystem, which has important implications for forest ecosystem management.
