Abstract

The effects of space modulation of counter-propagating laser beams in the nonlinear distributed feedback (DFB) -structure are investigated. Since the DFB structure is nonlinear for the monochromatic input beam, the reflection coefficient tends to depend on the transverse coordinates. This results to a space modulation both for the transmitted radiation and the reflected one. A numerical analysis of the parabolic equations is performed which takes into account the interaction of the forward beam and the reflected one in the nonlinear DFB structure. It is shown that, depending on the position of the point of the nonlinear Bragg resonance on the intensity envelope of the input beam, the reflected emission can have various space structures.
