Abstract

Equipment was developed for placing the crop on a feed conveyor and sampling the separation occurring at the cylinder concave, the transition grate, and at intervals along the walkers. Machine and crop parameter adjustments were not prevented while using the equipment. The machine adjustments considered included travel speed (speed of feed conveyor canvas), cylinder speed, and cylinder concave opening. The crop parameter adjustments possible were height of cut, crop density, feed rate of grain, feed rate of material other than grain, and m.c. of crop. ADDITIONAL ABSTRACT: Equipment was developed to place a crop of Zizania aquatica on a feed conveyor and to sample the separation occurring at the cylinder concave, the transition grate, and intervals along the straw walkers.
