Abstract

The steps necessary to generate a computer model of a physiological system are described. These steps include formulation of a block diagram, performance of any necessary physiological experiments and derivation of resulting mathematical transfer functions. As an example of this procedure, a model for the system which controls the plasma concentration of the hormone testosterone is discussed.
