Abstract

Experiments have been conducted to study the effects of multiple heat sources on natural convection in horizontal porous layers. For a fixed number of heat sources, experiments have covered a wide range of Rayleigh number, 10 < Ra < 500, The results are compared with those obtained via numerical solutions of the Darcy-Boussinesq equations. Local temperature variation, average Nusselt numbers, and the Nusselt-versus-Rayleigh number relation are presented.
