Abstract

The relationship between high-temperature creep of olivine and oxygen partial pressure has been studied at temperature of 1250-1500°C and stress range of 21.5-150 MPa in controlled buffered enstatites. The experimental results suggests that oxygen partial pressure directly controls variation of creep rate of olivine. Dislocation climb of olivine is closely related to diffusion of vacancy-point defects of olivine. Three crystallographic directions of [011]c, [101]c and [110]c have different rheological strength and exponent of oxygen partial pressure. -English summary
