title = "Extended abstract: From research to practice: How insights from social web research inform website usability",
abstract = "This project explores social web feedback in relation to website usability. The concept of 'audience involvement' provides a framework for understanding social web feedback about large public websites. That is, audience involvement values the integration of audience voices and feedback in consideration of use and design of information products and services. In two case studies about large public websites, social web feedback from Facebook, Twitter, and blog responses were analyzed to better understand contextual website use. A modified grounded theory analysis demonstrated ways that social web feedback revealed usability issues and impressions as well as 'minis' (individual profiles) and 'treks' (first-hand explanations of web paths). This analysis of social web feedback about large public websites potentially extends usability methods to achieve a better sense of audience values and expectations regarding usability.",
