FEM solution of biphasic equations for a cell-populated viscoelastic fluid system

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

A finite element method is presented for solution of equations describing flow of a biphasic mixture of two fluids, one of which is viscoelastic and contractile. The mixed formulation with discontinuous stress elements reduces the difficulties resulting from the necessary retention of the constitutive equation. The solution method has performed well for a test problem involving all of the major aspects of the axisymmetric problem.
