Abstract

The wide variability of conditions encountered in field testing of turbines is illustrated by examining two case studies with widely different scenarios. One site involved field acceptance testing of two four-Megawatt pit turbines installed in a new run-of-river plant. The second involved performance testing of 71 open flume Francis runners installed in the early 1900s.
