title = "Fluid-structure interaction coupling techniques based on sensitivities",
abstract = "The coupled solution of a time step in a partitioned fluid-structure interaction simulation must satisfy the equilibrium conditions on the fluid-structure interface and can be obtained with coupling iterations between fluid and structure. This paper demonstrates that coupling with reduced-order models and Interface-GMRESR require less coupling iterations than Aitken underrelaxation and interface-GMRES because the former techniques use sensitivities based on all previous coupling iterations. The change in performance due to a variation of the time step and structural stiffness is explained with Fourier error analysis of the fixed-point iterations between flow and structure in a simulation of the flow in a flexible tube.",
