Abstract
Gives details of the growth of 1949 plantings on an island in Basswood Lake, Minnesota: 64 selections from 40 parents were compared with ungrafted controls. The grafts showed, after 6 years, a 5% infection with rust against 58% for the controls; also a high incidence of prostrate and angled forms and a greater mortality. Further study to eradicate these defects is required.
