Graphene sensors for detection of Escherichia coli O157:H7

Abstract

This paper proposes a novel sensor structure for detection of an Escherichia coli (E. Coli) O157:H7 based on self-assembled graphene. Patterned graphene into ribbon structures used as a sensing material shows different sensitivity and noise level with various configuration and numbers of graphene strips. Improvement of graphene sensor performance for E. Coli detection is achieved by changing sensor structures. The self-assembled graphene sensor exhibits capability of detecting E. Coli O157:H7 with a detection limit of 1.0×104 CFU/ml, comparable to the conventional methods.
