Funding Information:An International Symposium on Humidity and Moisture, held in Washington, D.C. from 20 to 23 May, was sponsored by the American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers, the American Meteorological Society, the Instrument Society of America, the National Bureau of Standards, and the U.S. Weather Bureau. A considerable part of the 226 papers presented at that meeting dealt with transfer problems. The four invited papers were also devoted to the same processes. The Proceedings will be published in book form. The Sixteenth Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics Institute took place at the California Institute of Technology from 12 to 14 June; eighteen papers appeared on the program, a major part of them dealing with convective and radiative heat transfer. The Proceedings are available from the Stanford University Press. The Sixth National Heat Transfer Conference was held at Boston, Massachusetts on 11-14 August. It was dedicated to Dean L. M. K. Boelter who is retiring from his position at the University of California. Eighty-six papers on all phases of heat transfer were presented. They are or will be published in the Journal of Heat Tramfer or in journals of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. The program of the conference included two invited lectures and a well-attended forum for brief presentations and discussions of current investigations. Several books dealing with heat transfer have appeared on the market. They are listed at the end of this paper together with books in related fields.
