Abstract
We introduce an exploratory flexible fuel cell (f-FC) using a commercial PtC catalyst. Our laminated f-FC operating from 0.8 to 0.3 V, yields the maximum powers from 10 to 57 mW with PtC area of 10-100 mm2, respectively. This implies excellent reproducibility of performance even on catalyst areas scaled down for miniaturized FCs. The impedance response of the f-FC was investigated in terms of hydrogen dissociation, proton transport, and interfacial reactions, appearing at operating voltage. The f-FC has excellent performance and is easily reproducible with superior advantages for applications to evaluate membranes and catalysts in laboratory testing.
