Abstract

We have developed a novel high throughput assay to analyze cell migration within complex 3D microenvironments. This platform will enable the discovery of the cues that promote metastatic tumor cell migration. Metastasis is universally recognized as the primary cause of cancer mortality, yet this stage of cancer progression remains the least understood and most difficult to study. There is need to systematically explore microenvironmental factors that influence cell migration, but current methods are throughput limited and do not recapitulate physiological conditions. To overcome these obstacles, we combine rapid 3D tissue generation with high throughput flow analysis to quantify cell migration.
