title = "Hybrid RANS/LES simulation of transverse jet in supersonic crossflow with laser energy deposition",
abstract = "A hybrid Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes and Large Eddy Simulation approach is used to simulate the injection of air into a Mach 2.45 air, with flow conditions matching recent experiments. Injection takes place through a 4.8mm diameter circular injector that is normal to the freestream. A low-dissipation, kinetic-energy-conserving numerical scheme is used. The simulation was run for sufficient time to gather statistics, and both the mean and root-mean-square streamwise and spanwise velocities are qualitatively compared to experimental particle image velocimetry data. The simulation results are found to be in good agreement with these experimental data. An 11-species plasma pulse is imposed on the flow, matching the position and total energy of pulses produced in experiment. Density gradient magnitude is qualitatively compared to experimental Schlieren imagery at several instances in time. The simulated pulse-induced pressure blast wave matches that seen in experiment.",
