Abstract
A case of missed posterior fracture dislocation leading to severe degenerative arthritis is used to underscore the importance on adequate AP, lateral and axillary view x-rays for the proper interpretation and treatment of acute shoulder trauma. These x-rays are possible with the patient sitting, standing, and supine; and can be done with the arm in or out of the sling.
