Abstract

A new variable-thickness model was developed to account for the kinematics of the patellofemoral joint (PFJ) of patients with osteoarthritis (OA). The relative benefit of the model for arthritic cartilage over healthy cartilage was tested by comparing the overlap and stress maps of a PFJ OA patient to those of a cadaver with normal intact cartilage.
