Abstract

Three dimensional and two dimensional ferromagnets were used for investigating intrinsic damping mechanism arising from the magnon-magnon scattering. An analytic theory responsible for rapid relaxation and which identified the three-magnon and four-magnon scattering processes was also developed. The damping in different technologically important systems as well as the analytic theory was confirmed using micromagnetic simulations. It was found that the intrinsic mechanism dominated competing linear mechanisms even for rapidly relaxing metals for the large scale rotation of magnetization.
