Abstract

Iodosylperfluoroalkanes (CnF2n+1IO, n = 2,3,4,6) were prepared in high yield by mild hydrolysis of [bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo]perfluoroalkanes with sodium bicarbonate and ice. Reaction of iodosylperfluoroalkanes with 1,4-bis (trimethylsilyl) benzene in the presence of trimethylsilyltriflate gave the corresponding perfluoroalkyl(ary1) iodonium triflates in 70-83% yield.
