Abstract
The development of a method of fabricating titled magnetic-recording media for higher density recording is discussed. The magnetic medium is magnetized bit by bit (100 nm x 40 nm) in two opposite directions ('1' and '0') by a magnetic writing head, and the magnetized bits is 'read' out by a magnetic read sensor. The switching field is at minimum at α=45° which allow the use of media materials with smaller grains and doubled magnetic anisotropy constant for higher areal densities. It is observed that the switching speed should be more than 10 times faster in 45°-tilted media which results in much higher data transfer rate desirable for internet and other applications.
