Abstract
In a previous study, high resolution magnetic force microscopy (MFM) was used to image the magnetic reversal in Co84Cr16 thin films with a perpendicular anisotropy. Electron microscopy studies of these films showed the Chrysanthemum pattern (CP) associated with the compositional separating after etching with either dilute aqua regia or dilute nitric acid. This article discusses the comparison of the observed magnetization reversal with reversal models where Co rich regions are modelled as prolate spheroids with a reversing field applied parallel to the long axis of the particle.
