Abstract

This paper describes the microprocessor implementation, testing, and evaluation of the optimal control laws developed to regulate the lateral dynamic behavior of rail vehicles. The actuator system is comprised of three truck-mounted linear induction motors which provide lateral force and steering moment control. Hybrid computer simulations are performed to examine the aliasing, quantization, and timing effects of the discretized controller in vehicle response.
